Rome (Italy) - What are the challenges for sustainable development in the Mediterranean? Which solutions can scholars propose to society and governments? An international conference to be held at the University of Siena’s Pontignano Conference Centre from 3 to 5 July 2013, will seek to answer these crucial questions for the future of the Mediterranean. The conference will bring together high-level experts, policy makers, managers, civil society leaders, academics and students from key Mediterranean institutions to identify and adopt a first set of practical and effective solutions among those proposed by the international scientific community.

The First Siena Solutions Conference: Sustainable Development Solutions for the Mediterranean Region is organised by MED Solutions, the University of Siena’s Centre for the Mediterranean, part of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, guided by the economist Jeffrey Sachs and launched in September 2012 by the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon.
