A high-level group has been tasked with mobilising action among governments, the private sector and civil society to support the provision of clean and affordable energy for everyone.

The group consists of 46 members who are global leaders in business, finance, government and civil society, and their job is “to catalyse partnerships, commitments and action – in corporate board rooms, in government ministries, and on the ground in thousands of local communities,” said UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The group will help to develop an action agenda to support Ban’s vision statement on his initiative on clean energy, which sets three objectives to be achieved by 2030: ensuring universal access to modern energy services; doubling the rate of improvement of energy efficiency; and doubling the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.
