WASHINGTON - US Vice President Kamala Harris has urged Israel to allow humanitarian aid into northern Gaza and to respect international law.

"The UN reports that no food has entered northern Gaza in nearly two weeks. Israel must urgently do more to facilitate the flow of aid to those in need," Ms Harris, who is the Democratic presidential nominee, said on X.

She said civilians must be protected and must have access to food, water, and medicine.

"International humanitarian law must be respected," she said.

More than 200 people have been killed in northern Gaza since Israel began imposing a siege and intensifying its attack on civilian sites, the enclave's health authorities said.
