Husband reports online date as burglar to avoid being caught by wife

A love cheat invited an online date to his home for a little romance – then reported her as a burglar when his wife turned up unexpectedly just before the woman was due to visit.

Kevin Gaylor, from Colorado Springs, invited the woman he met on the Craigslist website to come to his house after 3am.

But the 24-year-old's wife came home without warning in the mean time, making him panic and call the police to report an armed burglar when the other woman showed up. Five officers rushed to his home to intercept the 'intruder', who they were told had a gun. Instead, they found a college student in her early 20s sitting in a truck in front of Gaylor's apartment. She told them she had travelled for over an hour in the snow to meet Gaylor, who she had been corresponding with for two weeks over the internet and on the phone. When police knocked on his door he answered, speaking to them in a hushed tone, 'like he didn’t want anyone to know', according to Colorado Springs Police spokeswoman Barbara Miller.

He explained his wife was in the house and asked police to 'get rid' of the student. The man was arrested and has now been charged with false reporting to police.
