Jailed ex-wife of fashion heir refuses offer of parole

The ex-wife of fashion heir Maurizio Gucci, jailed for ordering his murder, has refused an offer of parole because it would mean having to go to work. Patrizia Regiani was offered early release from Millan’s San Vittore jail. She was jailed for 29 years in 1998, which was reduced to 26 years on appeal. But the 62-year-old told the parole board: ‘No thanks, as it would mean getting a job and I have never worked a day in my life. I would prefer to stay in my cell and water my plants.’ Dubbed the black widow, Reggiani hired hitman Benedetto Ceraulo to gun down Mr Gucci, 46, after a bitter row over maintenance during their divorce that ended 12-year marriage.
