Landlord ‘wins’ £429million ... for one second

A public house landlord from Scarborough, England got the shock of his life when more than £429 million ($700 million) was accidentally transferred into his account.

Dave Edmond, landlord of The Angel in North Street, couldn’t believe his eyes when he checked a statement from Punch Taverns for the pub’s fruit machine.

It showed that £429,496,588.71 had been deposited in the account – and swiftly taken back out again.

Edmond, who has been at the Angel for eight years, said: “I was in utter shock. My eyes went straight down to the bottom to see what the balance was! It looks like they realised what had happened immediately afterwards. It should have been £112!”

Edmond is now planning to frame the statement and display it in the pub, as proof of his “millionaire moment”.
