DUBAI - Dubai International Airport (DXB) recorded passenger traffic of 27.9 million in the first half of 2022.

In the latest report released by global travel data provider, OAG, Dubai continues to retain its position as the world’s busiest international airport by seats with an international capacity 5 percent higher than last month.

Total number of seats reached 4,127,704, the OAG data showed.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) recorded passenger traffic of 27.9 million in the first half of 2022 – rising 161.9 percent from the same period last year, inching closer at 67.5 percent of pre-pandemic levels.

Traffic in the three-month period ending June was at 14.2 million, DXB operator Dubai Airports said, adding it has maintained its growth for nine consecutive quarters since the start of the pandemic.

In July, the airport served over 4 million seats for international and domestic travellers in July 2022, showing a 28 percent increase, compared to the previous month.

Aside from this, following the recent changes in face mask rules, passengers at the Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC) do not have to wear face coverings anymore.
