LONDON - Sales of eco-friendly cars in the United Kingdom (UK) have overtaken diesel for the first time.

Bolstering claims that fossil-fuel vehicles are in terminal decline, official data shows that 33,000 pure electric and hybrid cars were registered between April and June, compared with 29,900 diesel cars.

Experts said the figures show Britain is witnessing the “death throes of diesel” vehicles.
