THE UNITED NATIONS - The United Nations is calling for schools to ban smartphones to protect the wellbeing of children, says The Guardian. A new study in the paper has warned of the impact on learning and dangers of the digital revolution. It particularly notes the threat of cyberbullying.

Algeria is battling killer wildfires as the heatwave in Europe appears to be wreaking havoc in North Africa too, says the Financial Times. At least 34 people have been killed and thousands evacuated after wildfires broke out across Algeria, the country’s interior ministry says.

Meanwhile, says the iPaper, Rishi Sunak has delayed the government’s flagship recycling reforms for a year as the Prime Minister “rows back from another major environmental policy”.
