BRUSSELS - Kenya and the European Union have opened negotiations on a data agreement that would be the first between the EU and an African state.

Speaking at the gathering of African Data Protection Authorities in Nairobi on Tuesday, Ondrej Šimek, the EU’s deputy ambassador to Kenya said that EU and Kenyan officials will look at "building a safe 'personal data bridge' between our two economies”.
