DOHA - Qatar is to close borders and schools ahead of FIFA World Cup 2022.

Over 1.5 million football fans are expected to visit the country, with real estate sector to benefit.

FIFA World Cup organisers estimated the event could provide $20 billion boost to Qatar’s economy.

The 2022 World Cup is taking place in Qatar in the winter months rather than the usual summer ones, due to the heat.

The tournament kicks off on Sunday November 20 at the Al Bayt Stadium when Qatar take on Ecuador in Group A.

The final will be played at the Lusail Stadium in Doha a week before Christmas on Sunday December 18.
