Helsinki - A new form of tyre which can convert mid-drive to deal better with snow has been unveiled.
The Finnish invention by Nokian relies on pop-out studs, which give the tyre more grip but can be hidden during normal use.
The firm behind it said that "it is possible to combine a studded and non-studded winter tyre" into one model.
"With a press of a button, the driver can bring out the studs to improve the grip of the tyre," said Matti Morri, Technical Customer Service Manager for Nokian Tyres, according to the Daily Mail.
So far the tyre is just a concept, but if it proves popular it could hit production soon.
