LONDON - Robots that can hold simple conversations and memorise people’s interests are to be used in the United Kingdom UK care homes, after bosses claimed they enhanced mental health and reduced loneliness.

The wheeled droids gesture with robotic arms and are designed to be “culturally competent”.

Vic Rayner, executive director of the National Care Forum, said the robots “should not be seen as part of a frightening futuristic vision”.
