KIGALI - Thirteen people in Rwanda have been killed after heavy rain struck on Sunday night, causing landslides, authorities say, quoting provisional figures.
Six of those died inside their homes in the capital, Kigali.
A resident of Kanombe, near the main airport in Kigali, told the BBC his neighbour and her two children were killed while asleep after a landslide hit their home.
"We found [out] in the morning," he told the BBC. "The rain was too heavy with strong lightning, and everyone was scared."
The national meteorology agency says more rain is forecast across the country on Monday.
Poilice are cautioning motorcyclists to lower their speeds during the rainy season to avoid accidents.(FA)
